About Life <3

Hi There! Welcome to my blog space, I am excited to have you here reading this piece. I wanted to kick start my blog by sharing some life lessons that I have learnt thus far in life and worth sharing this with anyone who may feel themselves a little lost, in a rut or just simply looking for a good read.

Let’s be real, our lives are not what we put up on social media. We all face challenges and no one is really immune to the ups and downs that life throws our way. It is really how we take on those challenges that sets us apart.

So, I am now navigating my 30’S and these are few (but very important) lessons I have learnt about life thus far:

  • You are responsible for your own life: And I cannot stress this enough. Your life is your own making so you have to put in the work required for the outcome that you desire in life. It is your sole responsibility to make your life better or whichever direction you want to take it in by putting in the necessary work whether it be on your physical, mental or spiritual health. You have to remind yourself that no one understands your journey better than you.
  • It is important to build a network of strong woman(or people) who will support you because life gets difficult – for the real conversations, for when you are in your 30’s you will have other problems compared to what you had in your 20’s so it is important to surround yourself with strong women with real life experiences to help you when needed.
  • You can overcome anything- Do not underestimate how resilient and how strong you are as a person, you basically can overcome anything life throws at you and I don’t mean this loosely when I say anything, this can be deaths, job losses, breakups etc. Yes, you are capable of overcoming everything in life. Things will change you but you will eventually be ok
  • Happiness is an inside Job– Do not look outwards for it, the moment you wake up is when you have to decide how your day goes, you decide that you will not put your happiness in anybody else’s hand or any other external events. You decide on purpose that you will be happy
  • You will only have a few real people around you, the rest are just people around you– Remember it’s your job to keep and eliminate people in your life based on what you feel, based on your experiences. Also, do not sleep on the real people, cherish them and tell them what they mean to you.
  • You have the time to do a lot of things– No you are not too busy, you need to prioritise, time block or whatever it is required to do the work that you need too. Often times we get caught up with how busy we are and how we are not able to do all that we want to. Which is fine but we literally have the time to do a lot of things. The idea is to prioritize, make lists, time block and you can get it done without being overwhelmed at the very many things that needs to be done.
  • You must make time for rest, recharge and doing other things that you love to do – whether it be travel, food etc. So, whilst you navigate your day jobs, you must incorporate time for the things you love to do. This will rejuvenate you and allows you to have fun and make memories
  • Incorporate logic in your decision making– this is especially important for the ladies. Often times we are too emotionally driven, whilst that is still important but you must incorporate logic and see things for how it is. Emotions allow us to see things that may not necessarily be real or on the basis of our own emotions but logic will never deceive you because it will present you with facts for better decision making.
  • Bad times do pass – They say bad times do not last forever, this is true. No matter how bad your situation is you will have to hang in there, keep your faith and do the work required to navigate the hard times. It will pass by and you will be ok again.
  • You need to do the work to see the results- Similar to how we put in the efforts at work to see the results, we need to put in the work in our life to see results, no one will hand you your perfect life on a platter. If you want to be happier, you have to work on yourself, your thoughts and heal yourself. If you want to be healthier and wealthier similarly you have to put in the work for it.
  • Invest in yourself- So long as it is not harming anyone else you need to invest in yourself, for the intangibles like your mindset, your character and personality and as well as the material things. You owe it yourself to do better and make yourself proud. An investment in yourself is never wasted
  • The small things are usually the big things in life– These are usually the finer things in life that will provide you that comfort especially when life gets busy or tough, a cup of coffee, that friend that you can count on, a walk in the evening to clear your mind, the look of wildflowers. These are the things that make life worth living and brings about that magic in the mundane
  • You can start life over at any point in time- your past is just a lesson for you and gives you experiences and a guideline however you can start life at any time and you can do it as many times as you want or as many times as you fail. There is absolutely no guide of how your life must look. Do what is best for you.
  • Comparison is the thief of Joy– Your life is your own and you absolutely must not compare it to anyone else’s journey. Everyone has their own journey, you may be fazed by what people have in their winning season but you have no idea what they have actually lost in their losing season. So just understand that everyone goes through that. Your journey is unique and your own, embrace it.  Be inspired if you must, seek learnings but do not wish to be another.
  • Perspective is everything– Seeing the glass half empty or half full, they don’t say this for nothing. Positive thinking will take you a long way, negative thinking will always keep you in a rut. And remember critical thinking is not the same as negative thinking. You can incorporate cirtical thinking whilst generally seeing the glass half full.
  • Humor saves the day- Do not take yourself and life so seriously, you are not getting out of it alive. Do the work required on yourself but take a chill pill as well. Laugh while you can, it makes things better and easier to cope

To sum it up, no one prepares you for life and the things that we all face. Life is extremely hard at times and we must look within to keep afloat. Absolutely no one can make this happen for you apart from you yourself. This is basically a summary of my take on life so far per my own journey. I strongly believe in these pointers, some I have learnt the hard way so am out here sharing my thoughts with anyone who might need it. Hopefully it inspires or resonates with some of you. Please do share any feedback or any thoughts you might have.

Once again welcome to my space, am here to inspire and at the same time learn from whoever is reading this.

Glad to have you here as I build my community. xx

Warmest Regards
